Swagging with Sheer Magnificance

A hillside homeowner recently requested a festive canopy for a loved one’s backyard birthday celebration. One of our talented event directors suggested a clear top with swagging and our 3 tier crystal chandelier. As the sun set, the purple sheer material picked up more and more of the LED Par Can’s purple up lighting.  Below are some shots of the decor during and right after sunset. Note beautiful silhouettes cast by the treetops against the fading sunset.

Chic and Classy Class Reunion

Transforming a backyard into your own personal, one-night event venue gives you and your guests a private and exclusive celebration setting with all the commodities and conveniences of your home.

This simple and tidy back lawn played host to a homeowner’s small class reunion get together with a fancy dinner and cocktails. The hosts wanted to create a quaint and private setting for their guest’s to wine, dine and hark back on cherished, collegiate memories.

Guests were greeted with a plethora of delectable treats professionally prepared on square Whittier plates and tiered atop a chrome lazy susan. The first thing guests saw when entering the backyard was a welcoming furniture vignette with a warm and inviting fireplace. Mocha and Espresso couches sat around a portable, propane fueled conversation fireplace and black spandex-wrapped end tables provided area for cocktails and appetizer plates. Amber wash lighting from LED par cans, gave the entire backyard a warm, amber glow; creating a cozy atmosphere on a particularly chilly and gloomy evening.

After the banter and reminiscing of school days past, the group moved over to the dining area. The wooden cabana with sheer draping and grapevine garnishing transformed part of the yard from a well kept lawn into an posh, cozy dining space. Rustic garden lanterns adorned with more grapevine garlands ran the inside sidewalls adding even more to the ambiance.

The event designer went top tier with the chairs, using gold Chiavaris. He paired them with white linen and a burlap overlay; hunter green napkins fanned in the wine glasses. The two buffet stations on either end of the dining table were dressed with complimenting hunter green infinity pattern linens and 8 quart, chrome, roll top chafers. Amongst the gloomy, cold weather, space heaters running the top perimeter of the cabana frame and Empire tabletop fireplaces kept guests snug.

Having the privacy, exclusivity, and stylish furnishings is way more fun and affordable than coordinating an event at venue with a comparable atmosphere and food. What can we help you transform your yard into?

Clearly Not Your Ordinary Tent

Keeping the sun off of guests is not the sole purpose of tenting an event. It gives the framework to create a unique event area. A made-to-order 80’x120’ clear structure was the backbone of an annual cocktail party in a spacious yard in Beverly Hills. The clear structure gave guests a view of the yard’s beautiful landscaping and the mansion’s Gothic Revival architecture. Decorators incorporated the yard’s splendor by hanging decorative Willow garlands and Velon draping with twinkle lights creating a midsummer’s dreamlike atmosphere. Furniture and other hanging décor gave the event an Arabian Nights feel. A unique view that part- goers most likely missed was from the outside, where the custom lights and décor from the inside could be seen through the structure’s clear walls and ceiling, making it look like a glowing, neon jellyfish.

Normally, this type of install requires heavy machinery to complete. However,  the confines of the yard required the structure’s construction crew to use pulleys anchored to the mansion and a lot of elbow grease. The estate’s pool and grotto area was also covered and decorated for the party, bringing the square footage of the backyard tent set-up to a grand total of over 16,800 square feet.

Decorating events is all about transformation. Creating an environment that alters the everyday look and feel of an area will leave lasting impressions with every guest. A1 Party Warehouse By Day, Swinging Fundraiser By Night.

Fun Dancing

The Covina Sunrise Rotary Club held their 8th annual fundraiser at the A1Event and Party warehouse in Covina on Saturday, April 28th. Attendees enjoyed casino games, live music, food from local restaurants, and a silent auction. All proceeds from the event went towards the Club’s Operation Santa Clothes program and the Tex Everson Humanitarian Endowment. The fundraiser drew 550 guests and grossed $40,000.

Vintage Restored Cars

The 40,000 sq. foot warehouse was transformed into a retro 50’s themed dance hall, diner and casino area. Guests tried their luck at craps, poker and 21 tables toward the entrance of the warehouse. The will call area of the warehouse hosted the ballroom section of the party where

The Lindy Sisters and Pasadena’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory group, The Big Band Theory played for guest to enjoy.

The section of the warehouse normally housing the tenting equipment moonlighted as a diner-themed area with a buffet line with gourmet foods and desserts from local restaurants. Live music was provided by bands Grease Monkey and Dream Duo; At the very back of the facility was the silent auction area where sports and music memorabilia as well as other prized collectibles were up for grabs; all in the spirit of helping the community.

What’s Black and White and Clear All Over?

A black and white ballroom dance themed event in a Chino backyard took place under a canopy with sidewalls and a custom fabricated clear-top, which gave guests a view of the lovely night sky while shielding them from the cold March evening and, coincidentally, sheltered them from unexpected showers later that night. Complimenting the tent were striking silver and black Chinese lanterns and twinkle-light lined sheer swagging draping elegantly from the corners.Over time rental equipment undergoes wear and tear. During the setup of this particular event this repeat-client noticed slight yellowing and hazing of the clear top.
With the use of an in-house custom fabrication shop, a brand new top was created and replaced well before the event began. In the rental industry “you get what you pay for” can put your event at risk by taking a chance with a sub-par business, and they’re out there. The last thing you need when hosting a party is a delivery truck to show up at your place with worn and torn event equipment. Rent equipment that is clean, and in good condition. Work with a company that keeps a clean and up-to-date inventory.
