The Tent As Party-Hearty Place

When the male party attendees are all dressed in their pajamas and the females all in lingerie, them maybe it doesn’t even matter what the tent looks like. But when the party is the annual Midsummer Night’s Dream pajama party at the Playboy Mansion in Los Angeles, then the tent has to be as good-looking as the guests. For more than 20 years, the event had used pole tents placed over the pool and back lawn. But this year, Covina  Calif.-based A1 Party Rental put a new twist on the August even– installing a clear-top clearspan. The rental team had to work quickly; the event host gave the go-ahead to manufacture the custom structure only a week before the party.

A myriad of space and equipment constraints on-site-a tony residential neighborhood- meant that standard installation equipment such as boom lifts and reach forks were out of the question. Instead, the crew used pulleys anchored near the roof of the mansion to hoist the beams high enough for a single scissor lift to pull them upright.

In the end, the 80-by-120–foot structure offered no obstructive center poles, a higher peak, and more ceiling area than a pole tent, allowing installation of towering truss lighting, a massive chandelier and 20-foot-tall-LED panels on the entertainment stage, where Cee Lo Green performed for the 900 quests in an environment decorated as a “fertile forest”

Dear Santa Clothes,

Thank you so much for those clothes and for all of you there who picked me. I respect you for all of that. I also enjoyed the fun ride in the school bus. My mom is really happy because my dad was out of work. So we are very grateful for the 2 shirts, pair of shoes, socks and 2 pants. I am also grateful to all the people who volunteer. Department of Children and Family Services

On behalf of the Department of Children and Family Services, Service Bureau 3 Glendora office, I would like to personally thank you for your generous donation. Your commitment to helping children from abusive and neglected families within our community is sincerely appreciated.

This year, our Fourth Annual Children’s Holiday Party, was held on 12/07/2011. Prior to the event, there was a dire need for obtaining ‘those extras’ such as cotton candy and popcorn. Without hesitation, your company generously donated the use of the cotton candy machine and popcorn machine for no charge. Through A-1 Event and Party Rentals we were able to take full advantage of receiving this donation to make the event an absolute festive one for our children. Our children were truly excited and happy at the Party. Your contribution allowed our children to enjoy themselves in a fun and safe environment.

The goal of the Glendora Children’s Holiday Party is to provide a special event to those children that may not otherwise be able to have their own celebration or receive gifts this holiday season. With the help of donations from supports such as A-1 Event and Party Rentals, we will continue to see the children smile and enjoy their time during the event.

 

Thank you again for your generous support of our efforts to make the holidays brighter for the children we serve. Please keep them in mind as you consider future charitable donations or community service projects.

Your Team was a very stabilizing force behind our very successful air show. With all our new faces, rules of engagement and extremely complex and fragmented “divisions of responsibility,” you help Scott and I keep all the pieces from any “mid-air collision” …. Which you never want at an air show!!

Many thanks, once again, for allowing Rotary to take over your warehouse for our 7th annual fundraiser. It has been such a pleasure to have our events there and it always made for a perfect setting. Whether it was our Bootleggers event, Roaring Twenties, or Shake, Rattle and Roll it was a wonderful backdrop. Thank you for being so generous to us.

 

We feel that this might be the most successful event yet and word is out that it’s not only a fundraiser, but a great party. Please thank your crew, especially Rene, for all the help we have received over the years.

Last Minute Winds and Attention to Quality

Rene and Chet,

I wanted to take this opportunity to commend Michael Martinez. He is so professional in handing any job that is request of him and is truly an asset to your company. We expected approximately 900 attendees this morning at our annual Swearing-In Ceremony. After the strong winds that occurred last night, we were quite concerned with the condition the tent would be in this morning. Michael had enough foresight to send a crew member last night to check on the tent and had a crew here at 6:00 am this morning. They arrived ready to repair any damage the wind may have caused. If it weren’t for Michael and his crew we would have had major problems with this event, and quite honestly it probably would have been delayed a few hours with such damage. I felt the need to inform you because having people like Michael within your company, is one of foremost reason that I continue to use your services for any events.Thank you, Martha G.

It gives me great pleasure to recommend A1 Party Rental as a vendor for any event related needs. Best Friends Animal Society has worked with A1 for many years, from small events (500 people and 5k worth of rentals) to large events, such as our annual Super Adoption (10,000+ people and $20k+ worth of rentals). Over the years, A1 has proven to be nothing less than extraordinary in their service supplied, and have gone above and beyond to help with our event needs.

 

As a non-profit, money is important and we’re always doing what we can to cut costs. For that reason, this past year we decided to send our event needs out for competitive bidding, and ended up selecting another company for one of our largest events. The outcome was nothing short of a disaster, and one of the worst decisions we ever made.  We realized that although their cost was slightly less upfront, it was evident when it came to the equipment, staff, and setup. Not only were they late to arrive, but they finished their setup several hours past the deadline, which causes chaos with our staff and scheduled volunteers. In our line of work, the difference between a good event and a bad event can be the difference in many animals lives being saved or not. Needless to say, we learned our lesson, and are sticking with A1 here on out!
